"20,000 Light Years Into Space" was written for Pyweek (March 2006) by Jack Whitham. It is a single-player real-time strategy game with a science-fiction theme. It gained second place in the competition. Since then, it has been featured on a number of gaming websites and has been included in two major Linux distributions. It has also been improved by contributions from a number of people:
